in gossip girl any time any character does anything all the other characters (and even some people that aren't characters but function more like the chorus in old greek plays) immediately tell all the other characters. so serena will flirt with a guy at a coffee shop and blair will tell nate who will tell chuck who will tell serena's boyfriend, dan, who will then START SOME DRAMA.
